This blog was originally started as a tribute to a little Angel named Avery mae Ziebart. She was diagnosed with CDH (Congenital Diaphragmatic hernia) inutero at 19 weeks. This condition happsnw ehn there is a hole in the diaphragm that allows other organs to crowd upward through the hole. The lungs have no way to develop correctly. Avery lived 17 remarkable days, but sadly lost her fight with CDH. Her mommy, Lauren and I have become close friends - and together have helped raise over $1000 in a year for SickKids in Toronto. Lauren not only raises money and awareness, she is also a huge support to other parents struggling with CDH babies. Some children manage to survive, some do not. Lauren believes one day CDH can be history - if we raise awareness. This blog's purpose changed to help her do just that.
